The morning program started, as it always did, with some soft jizz music.

“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen and other, sentients and semi-sentients, old, young, and everyone in between, and welcome to another morning with me, Fugaruns T’ed, on A Forest Reflection. I’ll admit, I always find myself singing along to that chorus, or at least humming a few bars as I go about my morning. Sometimes a song just gets you. And now I’m happy to be sharing some select news items with you.”

“Here we have some dramatic scenes as the Republic launches its first offensive of the war.” The scene cut to shaky cam footage of the assault and heavy fighting. “Sources say a major Mandalorian commander was the target of the assault. Could it be the turn of the tide? This sentient certainly hopes so. We’re working on securing an interview with our Republic heroes.”

The view cut back to the calm tranquility of the studio. “But, let’s all not forget that today is our family day. Everyone out there who’s got someone they consider family, whether it be the family you’re born with or the family you find. Give them some love, stick together and stay strong. Up next is Jenny Yalmers with our analysis of the latest council session. And that - is A Forest Reflection.

After A Forest Reflection, there is a special news report on the antics of a group reportedly calling itself Chaos Squad. These mysterious individuals, at least two, possibly more in number, seem to be both helping and hindering the locals. They show up, drop off a few crates of food, then spraypaint a giant phallus on the warehouse and fly off on jetpacks yelling "Chaos Squad!"

Locals and Republic forces alike have expressed interest in learning just who these confusing individuals are. They seem to be trying to keep a low profile when not engaged in mischief, so anyone with an ear to the streets (read: criminal connections) is being asked to listen.

[GM Nicha]

"Now, we don't have any truck with the Mandalorians." There's a chorus of muttered agreement across the packed lodge. "But, they left us well alone up until now, and we did the same." Another chorus of agreement as the speaker, a grizzled older woman continues making her case. "Now we're some kind of military base? I got grandchildren now, what's gonna happen when the Crusaders come and attack the town? The Republic is gonna defend us? Ain't never heard of the Republic successfully defending so much as a food bank. This isn't our war, and we shouldn't be shedding blood in it!"
There's a louder general agreement with several in the audience breaking into applause.

Up on the dais Mayor Camali Evevos looks terribly tired, but she nods politely and waits for the older woman to be seated. "Of course Mrs Hottunbrush. It's not fair at all, I hope the little ones are doing okay despite it all."
Mrs Hottunbrush grunts but then grudgingly replies with "They really appreciated the gingerbread you walked over yesterday." Sometimes, being a mayor was about strategic sweet delivery.

"And I agree that the sooner this war is over with the better. We've always managed ourselves, and I know most of us have no time for the government up in the cities. But we've always survived, always played the hands we've been dealt. Sure we didn't choose this. But we don't choose a hard winter either, or a crop blight, or a bad hunting season. But we endure don't we?"

The crowd doesn't look convinced, but plenty of them grumble and nod in agreement. That is until Ciph stands up. "I don't disagree with any of that Camali. Protragdons been through worse. But I have no love for the Republic. These Hopers, well I'd like to see them in town a bit more, I'd like to see us at this meeting to talk to us! Common respect is what I'm after. But I reckon we're just an after thought to them, despite the fact we gave the clothes off our back when we landed."
He crosses his arms.
"I want to see some commitment to us and Kandra's Run, reckon we're entitled."

Even the pro-Republic faces in the room seem to be nodding at that as Camali just nods and sighs internally.

"Of course Ciph, I'll see what we can do..."
