Day 1

[GM Nicha]

The Crash

Above Obroa-Skai, The Dawn breaks, but thankfully only into a few pieces. The titanic battlecruiser groans, tortured metals supports warping and twisting as it hurtles down through the atmosphere. Bulkheads glow red, then orange and finally a blinding white as the heat of re-entry violently builds across the whole ship. A few escape pods jettison here and there but its too late for a real evacuation, even if most hadn't already been destroyed in the battle above.

Above the groaning and the rising roar of the wind the call goes out. "All hands Brace! Brace! Brace!" Someone somewhere is heroically fighting the ship's descent, the few remaining engines sputtering and failing as the Concord Dawn slowly, almost too slowly, begins to pull out of its dive, its battered prow desperately trying to rise towards the horizon.

The planet is approaching quickly, blues and whites swiftly growing below you until its surface is clear. With a bang! Half of a wing shears off and the Dawn begins listing dangerously and with the inertia dampeners gone the crew is thrown violently to the side.

The battlecruiser gives one final effort, her engines firing with one last impulse to right the ship before they splutter and abruptly die, leaving you with the groan of the ship and the wind for a couple seconds before she slams into the snow sending a titanic wave of dirt and ice into the air as the ship slides into a forest of grey trees. It takes three kilometres for the Concord Dawn to finally come to a rest and for there to finally be silence.

It's dark all around, emergency power is out, it's possible it fell into the ocean somewhere. But there are enough fires to see dimly.

In the distance there are lights.

The morning program started, as it always did, with some soft jizz music.

“Good morning, ladies and gentlemen and other, sentients and semi-sentients, old, young, and everyone in between, and welcome to another morning with me, Fugaruns T’ed, on A Forest Reflection. We’ve already heard some lovely jizz music, and now I’m happy to be sharing some select news items with you.”

The footage cut to show flaming debris arcing through dark skies as Fugaruns narrated over it. “Last night we saw a major engagement by the Republic fleet. Casualties appear to be heavy and debris rained down for kilometer after kilometer. I hope everyone is staying safe out there.”

“In other news, the siege on our capital continues, with the Mandalorian forces surrounding it, but no major attacks. Our shields continue to hold firm despite their best efforts. I’d like to think that if they came out and visited us in the countryside, they’d learn about the pleasant benefits of country life. Of course, I know that Kandra’s Run has the most hospitable folk on the entire continent, and also the most blaster rifles per sentient on the continent. The Mandalorians would probably appreciate one or the other.”

“And finally, a happier story. I’m pleased to announce the wedding of Koth and T’Dani yesterday. Both sets of parents were quoted as saying ‘finally!’ We wish the young couple all our very best. And that - is A Forest Reflection.
