Description applies D1EE. Before that, it is just a bunch of ice and construction work
With a shield generator in place, the wreckage of the Concord Dawn serves as a rallying point for the numerous small communities in the area, as well as the many people displaced by the war's devastation. Almost immediately, they began flocking to it. Some of them came to help, providing aid and supplies to help the Republic battlegroup. Others came looking for help themselves.
In response, Republic officers set about organizing a camp. Well-organized and engineered for such quick work, the provided buildings are tight, but cozy and warm. Most bunking areas and the dining area are sealed tents with airlock style entrances to keep heat in. More important areas like the latrine and infirmary (serious cases are sent to the ship's medbay) are prefab duracrete and durasteel.
More hands to help serve food, pass out supplies, provide aid or repairs, or many more things are always welcome. The central tent often has someone playing a musical instrument, and others chatting around the pleasantly glowing thermal heater.
