D10 - LM - Funeral For the Fallen (Fluff - Open)

by GM Nicha
The morning is crisp and clear as a procession of Republic troops, member of the Jedi Temple and local Obroans gather for a funeral march. The short lull in the fighting has provided an opportunity for a joint funeral service for all those lost on the planet over the past months.

Special forces march side by side with farmers and jedi as the military band at the front of the procession breaks into a somber dirge. The long column winds its way out of Kandra's Run to the old cemetery on the forests edge where hundreds of new graves have been dug ever since the Concord Dawn crash landed. Even victory has not been without cost. Although as you look around you at the sentients you've rescued, saved and patched up you conclude it could have been far worse.

General Novar, Master Mobok and Mayor Evevos each speak before food and drink is brought out and the crowd breaks into smaller groups for the wake. The atmosphere is understandably subdued with a tinge of nerves, everyone knows the final battle is approaching.

(( All friendly NPCs are available, make sure to ping a GM if you want to speak with one))

Tomin joins the solemn affair. There were a lot of graves. For a moment the frustration of still not knowing why the Mandalorians had come *here* of all places rose up for a moment before she let the currently unanswerable question go. She has a pocket of stones from the rubble of the Temple to lay on Jedi graves as a small remembrance, and dried flower petals often used as grave offerings here. The season for flowers was short, so these tended to be the easier token to find year-round.

ooc: makes sense for Tomin to be here, but I'll be a bit scarce with work.

Zephrin was also there to represent the Jedi. He had brought Torvin along as well. It was good experience for the Padawan to see both the cost of war and the beings who had been saved.

His head was bowed during the service and as it ended he sought out those he knew from amongst the trails in the force. "There is more to come, but we will face it together." He turned to Torvin. "Do you have everything you require in the Medbay? The next few days will be challenging."

Snowie wasn't particularly fond of funerals. He'd been in a few, here and there - and on the one hand, they brought some reminiscence of rituals buried down in his long-forgotten memories. But that just meant that source of longing mixed together with the sense of loss that was almost impossible not to associate with these rituals.

That still didn't mean he wouldn't come today. He had seen his share of violence in his time with the homeclan, of course. But he hadn't seen this much loss, death - or pain - since he was adopted in Obroa-Skai. Many of those who died near Kandra's Run he'd known for a long time - even if he wasn't close to them. He understood their efforts had prevented even more death, even more pain. But was still a lot, and showing their respect to those who had passed was only right.

All that was clear. It still didn't make him feel comfortable, and the pain kept nagging at him. So the hulking sentient tried to keep quiet, silent, moving slowly and as little as possible. It was hard to be inconspicuous when you're that large, but he was apparently trying his best to.
