It was early, and there was much fighting to be done ahead, but Fec made his way to the depths of the forest with carbine in hands. It was a bit risky to hunt before a day of fighting, but it helped with his nerves.

Plus, some fresh meat might be a good gift for a victory feast. Unfortunately, though it seemed luck wasn't with him today. As nothing of interest crossed his path.

"I think somebody might have taken all of the animals," Zeline said. "Sorry I'm not much help. Better with animals already captured." She had meant livestock, of course, and not the bizarre menagerie of murderous beasts they would encounter later.

He shrugged. "This type of year it's pretty difficult to find anything. So, can't say I'm really surprised." Fec returned his eyes still on their surroundings.

"Better with animals already captured though? Does that mean you've done some work as a vet?" Could be she worked on a farm instead though. Or maybe a slaughterhouse? The second might make a bit more sense though.

"No vet work, no. Nothing like that." Zeline didn't really look around at all as she went. Really didn't put much effort into trying to hunt. "Just helped raise some livestock is all. Can't say they really much liked me, though."

"Work on a farm then?" Raising was mentioned after all. "Or did your parents just like to keep the occasional farm animal around?" Some people were like that he heard. Raising animals as pets or just an extra source of food.

Not that he really knew much about that.

"Worked, well, depends how you feel about child labor." Zeline sighed, her fingers going over her pouch until she stopped; smoking here would be a mistake. "Grew up on a farm is all. Guess you deserve to know that much after everything we've been through."
