(D1, LA Officer's Quarters) Starting at the Top

It was sort of nice to realize that the officers might have more space, but their bunks were no more comfortable than anyone else's. Tomin squeezes through a door bent stuck just barely open to see if she can get it loose from the inside so the crew can assess the damage here. The bar looks a good sight nicer than anything in the regular crew section, though she hasn't smelled nearly as much spilled alcohol...so either stocks were low, or they were really well padded in there.

Some kind of fist-sized object seems to be stuck between door and housing..the temptation to simply vaporize it with precise lightsaber application is only a momentary one. She doesn't trust herself to be quite that precise and settles for squeezing her arm in to claw it out instead. The door still makes an unsettling grinding noise as it opens, but that can be dealt with later.

"Not in as bad a shape as I'd thought," she remarks to nobody in particular.

"Huh, thought I was stuck before I started." Fec muttered to no one in particular as the door he had been staring at for a few moments came sliding open, albeit with a lot of grinding involved in doing so.

The woman on the other side was looked over briefly before he offered a polite nod. "Seems I'm not the only one here trying to do a bit of cleaning."

*zwom* the light saber hums closed with a final snap as she registers that it's definitely not an enemy somehow hiding in the rubble. She clicks it into its holder while stepping across a chunk of dura-something.

"Yeah, there's quite a mess goin' on here. I'm Tomin, and not usually hanging around this part of the ship. Are there likely to be more folks stuck in this section of things? They're a priority over repairs."

"Not quite sure." Terreck replied with a shrug. Choosing not to comment on the shiny blade of the light saber he had seen for a few moments. "I'd just made my way here from the north east section."

"Was kinda trying to see how far I could get." He finished a few moments later.

"I take it that this path leads out again?"

She grins, "well...assuming nothin' fell in since I came by..." a distant groan from some other section of the ship highlights that this assumption isn't a given. "I wouldn't trust anything to be too sturdy just now. I'd guess the engineers will have things marked out by tomorrow, but for now...watch all your steps."

She peers in and around the room for other exits that might need opening, and then down the hall. "I'm going to continue in and see if there's anyone else as needs an exit and get all the doors open so we can start fixing the mess up."

"Sounds like as good of a plan as any." Fec replied after a moment of thought. "Care for some assistance with that?" He had kind of found the way through after all, which had been the end of his own plan.

"Absolutely. More the merrier as my gran always said!" Tomin grins "There's enough mess to move for everyone." She steps over something at the doorway, checking long enough to be sure it's not someone.

"Missed your name. You're one of the regular crew here?" She'd have seen more of him if he was one of the Obroa-skai group.

"Not such much." He replied with a shake of his head. "Though I suppose I'm a bit closer to a resident here then some. I'm Sergeant Terreck Fec'Klee of the 277th Outer Rim Expeditionary Force. Most just call me Fec though."

For the moment he followed the woman's lead, she seemed to have a sort of destination in mind at least, which was more than him. "What about you? From somewhere around here?"

There's a nod. "Yep. Born and raised on Obroa-skai, though mostly at the Temple on the other continent." Picking through a shattered bit of wall, she finds some bare wires to wrap quickly. Likely to start a fire that way when the power's back on.

"So I guess more official-like, it's Jedi Knight Tomin, but I don't stand on formality much, Sergeant Fec. Which world you call home before the Force then?"

"Oh, I'm a city boy myself. Born on Coruscant." Which was not really all that close to here. Though you might be able to find it's star on a clear night. "Haven't been back in years though."

He kept his eyes open for anything wrong as well. Occasionally shifting a piece of rubble to the side to help clear the path. It was pretty slow going but that was expected with being as careful as they were. "Military leave doesn't leave a lot of time for traveling half way across the galaxy after all."

"Ah, so this is a genuine Cor accent, you've got? Always kinda wonder in the vids we get if they're being accurate with those." She pauses. "I think they're a bit over the top, in comparison."

Broken shit gets dumped into crates to haul away later. Stuff that looks sound gets picked up and set somewhere in the vicinity of where it's found, on the assumption that it has a purpose there. There is definitely more than a day's work here, unless they suddenly materialize three times the crew.

"That normal then? Folks join and pretty much barely see home again?"

"After more than a few years away from the Core I can't really say if it's too genuine anymore." He replied with a smirk. "Still those vids do over play it more than a bit. Well, except maybe those ones about Alderaan."

Fec lent a hand, though more of the items he picked up landed in crates then was perhaps strictly necessary. "Ah, yes, and no?" He offered with a shrug. "If you want to stay closer to home, they can usually help with that, but even then, it's not a guarantee. Plus, some duties send you farther out then others, so you aren't as likely to be near anywhere you came from."

"So how much of your career's been fighting Mandalorean incursions now? Can't imagine that's what you started with, right?" He looks young, but probably not *that* young. There's a mess of shattered duraplast to pick up and sweep...without a broom. There will be some improvisation needed.

"What is it they want anyway? Just...control over everything?"

"Ah, before the Mandolorians we did some exploration, pirate hunting and stuff like that. The 277th is a bit different than most branches of the Republic military after all." It had been a good place though at the very least.

"As for what the Mandolorians want? Glory? From what I understand." He said with a small shrug. "Victory in combat is important to them. More important than the ruling and plunder, at least as far as I know. They'll fight strong enemies just to test themselves and try to overcome the trial. Or that's how I understand it."

"They're pretty damn dd as a people if you ask me though."

"Glory?!" The indignant tone is punctuated by an overly vigorous throw of broken crap into a crate. "I know it wouldn't make the disruption and death better if they were just out for resources, but that just feels insulting."

After a few moments of fuming, she aims to steer clear of that outrage with "Why's the 277th different? Sorry, keeping up with the branches of the Republic wasn't something I kept from classes."

"Far as I can tell." He replied with a shake of his head, though he let her lead the conversation away to other topics after that. Some topics were better left alone after all.

"Well, for starters the Outer Rim part. Not a whole lot or Republic units out doing business in the Outer Rim after all. So, you're a bit more cut off from home for one, and the duties are different too. End up doing some exploration, rescue operations, raids of pirate bases, not just guarding a planet or sector of space."

"Means you end up seeing a lot more of space and meeting a lot more people. Which is nice and all, though it also means you end up with a bit less back up then more centrally located Republic units."

"Hmm, guess possible recruits from out here just jump into their local forces instead, or does the Republic not really recruit from out here?" There's a bit of the rural distrust of cities, and by extension the very urban Core, to the question.

"I guess you get to see an awful lot of the galaxy that way...you do much sightseeing? Catch the local bands and all?" The Motley Sprues patch on her jacket attests to her own tastes there.

"Republic does recruiting everywhere, well everywhere that's part of the Republic at the very least." Or that's how it was as far as he understood. "You are right though, most locals go to local garrisons in the long run, though some of their training will likely be away from home for them. I guess it's partly because protecting home is a lot easier sell for most then protecting some random plot of space." He finished a of a question in the way he said it.

"But yeah, I get to see some of the local sights though some places there aren't really much to speak of in the way of local bands. Or well, the music isn't really to my taste. There are some rather strange genres of music out there, especially when you get closer to the edge." He shook his head ruefully. "And I can't say I'm a fan of screaming over pots and pans falling down stairs."

"Which is also known as Metallic Planet Crust. If you are curious."

"Is that what they're doing? I kept trying to figure out what instrument they were using for random clatter with just a bit of rhythm...from the steps I guess." She shrugs "Not my fave, though I've only heard a few recordings of that one at this Tundra Grunge drummer's place last summer."

She looks around the mess. "Wonder if the world that started on was having some upheaval. Think it might kind of be cathartic at times like this, honestly."
