D11 A Walk In The Park (Open - 4 players, combat)

A Walk In The Park

Location: The destroyed main street of Obroas City, a huge road decorated with statues and memorial that runs from the city outskirts to the Council Building at the city centre. Buildings on both sides have partially collapsed, spilling rubble onto the street while various wrecked and abandoned speeders litter the asphalt. Because of the clear sight lines every ranged attack roll at long or extreme range can be made with one additional boost dice .

Premise: A massive quadrupedal war walker is storming down the street towards the Council Building. The formidable war machine is heavily armed and armoured, shrugging off the defender's anti-vehicle attacks and spitting back lethal return fire. You must board the walker and take it down from the inside.

Opposition: walker starboard forelimb, walker port forelimb, walker starboard hindlimb, walker port hindlimb, walker command centre.

Player note: Every PC will start hidden in a partially ruined building along the walker's route. To begin the event, roll your choice of an average with one setback ■ athletics, coordination or skulduggery to board the limb of your choice (the command centre may not be boarded directly). Characters with equipment or weapons that rappel (such as an ascension gun or integrated ascension gear) may use them and make the appropriate checks listed under that gear.

It is possible (and even encouraged for those who might have trouble going from limb to limb) for players to board different limbs initially.

On a success you catch the Mandalorians in your limb by surprise, upgrade you initiative roll twice. On a failure you end up sprawled on the floor, start the combat prone.

Once everyone has boarded roll your choice of cool or presence for initiative.

Each limb has a different garrison of Crusaders that is hidden until you board. You will begin at short range to this garrison. Every garrison must be defeated to unlock access to the command centre and its final garrison. After boarding, moving from one limb to another will require a hard athletics or coordination check , or the use of rappelling equipment or attachments and their relevant checks to move between them with the appropriate rolls. Failure will leave you stuck on your current limb.

Limbs are considered to be long range from one another and the occupants of each limb may fire at occupants of other limbs. Mandalorians in limbs with no Hopers present will automatically replenish one minion per turn unless that garrison is completely wiped out.

The ascension pistol rested in her holster, rubbing against her thigh whenever she so much moved. It would be unwieldy with her carbine out, though. So she didn't need it. She didn't need it. She didn't-

Oh goodness, she was glad to have grabbed onto an armor plate. "I got it!" she shouted into comms.

Othym stood frozen, back pressed against a half collapsed wall as the boom of the walker signaled its approach. He'd painstakingly chosen this spot, close but covered from the sensor net, his garb made up to look like some local refugee. Finally the foot hit near him, and he pushed away from cover and began the climb under the cover of the ruins.

With some ease he reached the entry port and swung into the compartment, lightsaber in hand

Our friendly neighbourhood Gigoran didn't hesitate when he saw the gigantic war walker making its way towards the Council Building. Protecting the city, its inhabitants and its last defences was a priority - so he had no doubt about jumping towards the armoured vehicle's hind leg at the first opportunity to join the other Hopers who were making their way to other parts of it.

The timing ended up being completely off, however, and Snowie ended up falling on his behind instead of ready for action as he had planned to...

Vala was rather wide-eyed at this machinery that they had to apparently tackle. With what? Determination and feel-good story? If there was a time Vala felt like the odds were against them, this was one of them. Despite that gripe, she was going to give it a try or die doing so. Wait, we're going to climb that THING? REALLY?

"Oh, Vala, what the skriff are you doing?" she murmured to herself before running out and trying her hand at climbing the monstrosity. It seemed that her timing paid off and she managed to be scooped up inadvertently for a ride. Whether this was the dumbest idea ever, she was going to have to figure that out later.

The Mandalorians pause for a moment in shock as Snowflake cannonballs onto their limb. Then the sniper pulls around her huge rifle to point at the Gigorian! But in the tight confines of the walker's leg the long barrel is nothing but a hinderance and she can't manage to get off a clean shot!

The canny Jedi's lightsaber whips out and cuts a deep wound across the chest of the blood leader before he can react. Roaring in fury he hurls himself at Othym! But it's like the Jedi can sense his attacks before they land as the razor sharp axes slices harmlessly overhead. He only manages a hipcheck right at the end to send him sprawling!

Vala drew her blasters and seeing as Othym went for the leader, she focused on the mooks. She fired a flurry of shots that might have caught some unawares!

Half a second after the sniper fires and misses, the high powered bolt punching through the floor and pinging off into the leg, the Mandalorian charge! The big crusaders armed with sword and shield attempt to swarm Snowflake, but he's too skilled to allow himself to be surrounded and they struggle to land any telling hits.

Othym predicted the swing of the axe (twice) but always managed to miss the hip check.
He rolled then vaulted to his feet, but it must be the movement of the walker throwing off both their aim as his lightsaber swings well above the leader's head, connecting more with the cables above him than anything else. He slips back away to give Vala a clear shot.

Othym's lightsaber jerks back as he cuts through a cable which sprays oil into both his and the Blood Leader's faces. The two drop their weapons with a simultaneous clang as they rub at their eyes.
