D5LE - Dianoga Eater (EVENT)

Dianoga Eater

Participants: Four

A piece of intel regarding a factory has drawn the attention of Resistance intelligence. The Mandalorians have repurposed it for constructing more parts for their terrifying war machines. Analysis suggests that while a focused military strike might destroy the base, the cost in lives and material would be too great. However, a stealth team might be able to subtly sabotage the base. This would have wide-reaching effects on the Mandalorian military, as defective parts are used throughout the theater…

In order to complete this sneaking mission, players must move from one section of the factory to the next. This is done by successfully completing 4 rolls at each location using the allowed skills. Each roll is at Hard (◆◆◆) difficulty.

Players may roll in any order they wish. However, a player may not roll again until every other player has rolled at least as many times as them.

Instead of rolling, players may assist. There is no maximum number of assists a roll can receive.

If players have spent four actions in a location, a Mandalorian Patroller will enter the area. After one more action, he will begin scouting the area. This upgrades the difficulty and adds a setback to every roll. A player may eliminate the Patroller by using their action to make a successful Stealth, Ranged: Light, Brawl, or Melee at Hard with 2 Setback (◆◆◆■■); this does not suffer the Patroller penalty. If one of the combat skills is used, treat it as a combat roll using one of the weapons you have. Begin counting another four actions for a patroller after this.

Advantage and Disadvantage transfer as Boost or Setback to the next roll at a rate of 2 to 1, as usual. Despair will Upgrade the Difficulty of the next roll. Triumph can either Upgrade the next roll, or allow any skill to be used; please narrate how this is achieved.

SPECIAL: For one roll this mission, a player may ignore the Mandalorian Patroller penalty by hiding in a box.

SPECIAL: Additionally, as part of their action for one roll this mission, a player may make a secured comm call to a PC not in the event. This PC can be used to assist for the roll.

If the players have not succeeded after 21 actions, or if a roll is failed with Threat or Despair while a Mandalorian Patroller is present…

MISSION FAILED

Warehouse Exterior - While manpower is low, the warehouse is still physically secured as best the Mandalorians could manage.
Allowed Skills: Athletics, Mechanics, Skullduggery (Agility), Vigilance

Outer Warehouse - Having gotten into the warehouse proper, the team needs to sneak past the little amount of security that is present
Allowed Skills: Coordination, Perception, Stealth, Streetwise

Warehouse Offices - The control center of the Warehouses, where their target is.
Allowed Skills: Cool, Computers, Deception, Education

The Vault - Finally, the characters are at the data vault. Only a single successful roll is required here, and the restriction on rolling order is lifted; the same player may roll again and again. However, the Patroller can still appear.
Allowed Skills: Mechanics, Skullduggery (Agility)

While Othym had never been part of a commando raid, strange times called for desperate measures. Sabotaging what had previously been a local factory didn't sit well with him, but neither did the inevitable destruction that the Mandalorian war machine would enact with its output.

They had tried their best to protect the factory's exterior, but the place still suffered from being a civillian retrofit. A quick pass around the chain fence revealed a gate hidden from view against an outcropping of rock, with a low tech lock that gave way with minimal resistance.

While messing with local buildings wasn't Tomin's favorite, she'd already helped knock her own Temple down for the cause...kinda. So she's happy to volunteer when the assignment comes through. Oddly, she expects to be most useful as the lookout for the group, offering a quick primer in Miralukan scout signals to wave people down as security sweeps scan the space around the warehouse. Force sight is useful in picking up those thin motion detection beams and the like.

If Fec had been asked, Tomin had in fact knocked down her Temple all on her very own. That had ater all been some pretty impressive work with her rifle. Using the shots to knock down statues that eventually collapsed the building on the Queen. Well done indeed.

He pushed that to the back of his mind as he made his way forward, though the noise he made climbing over a wall likely made things harder on one of his allies.

Sirina tags along-- in theory this mission fits right into her skill niche. So far, she's contributing terribly meaningfully, however.

Whistling a cheerful war song, a Mandalorian patroller wandered into the area, ready to begin his rounds.

(Remember, the Patroller penalty begins after the next roll)

Tomin holds up a hand as the patroller's whistle reaches her ears. After a moment to judge its speed she waves everyone on with a silent 'go! go! go!'

It would seem going almost entirely unnoticed either by patrolling Mandalorians or through contributions by her allies was a fortuitous sign-- after all, it's a fine line between going unnoticed at all for good or ill when the goal is stealth. By the time the party of Hopers arrived inside the Outer Warehouse, Sirina was almost entirely forgotten about... and this case by design, though it was starting to aggravate her.

Sneaking was something terreck was skilled at and he showed it as they moved closer to the factory. Being nearly silent as they moved closer to their destination.

The coast now definitely clear, othym followed his comrades into the offices. He was starting to feel nervous at the lact of complications, hell, he hadn't even seen a soldier himself yet.
He found a comms chanel and opened a line, making himself sound exhausted "office come in, looks like there's a gas leak in the north sector. Again. Mind sending someone out to help me patch it?". That sound get at least some of them out of the way.

Lying wasn't really one of Fec's strong points, he was better at it then some, but nowhere near as skilled as someone like Othym though. Still his natural talents seemed up to the task, at least this time.

Tomin looks over the contents of the place with very little idea of what she was seeing. They aren't manufacturing lightsabers or breeding wooly range critters, that's for sure. It's a bit risky but...she opens her comm, dialing up one of the most obviously educated Jedi she's met here, whispering into the device, "Flora? Yeah, I know it's kinda late, but if we don't poke holes in what they're doing here, and I don't know the first thing about tweaking factory machines to spit out bits that won't fit. We don't have time to just go file edges off everything in the warehouse."

*****************
Making the call to Flora and using her brain. It's been stated elsewhere that our 'lifelines' are encouraged to post to the thread with their help.

The roll is vs. a Hard check with a setback from Fec above and a boost from Tomin for assisting

Is this the same Mandalorian Patroller cheerfully whistling while starting their patrol in this area? It's hard to say.

(Patroller enters, is active after next roll)

Othym heard the whistle of a Mandalorian uncomfortably close, and whispered into the comm, hoping the desperation in his tone would be taken as professional concern and not panick.

"Uh we're going to need some more hands, we haven't managed to shut that leak down, its uh, its really. um. Really big?"
