Obroa-Skai is a frozen world famous across the galaxy for its legendary collection of knowledge. Home to the Celebratus Archive, the Oboran Institute for Archaeology and a Jedi Academy the planet has been a repository for vast amounts of lore for thousands of years. The planet’s harsh conditions (for the majority of the year the entire world falls below the freezing point for water) and limited natural resources have kept the population low and left its frozen tundra and high mountains relatively untouched.
Geographic Features and Places of Interest
Obroa-Skai has two primary continents.
Rytai in the east which houses most of the planet’s population and the more isolated
Vakarus in the west where the famous Celebratus Archive and a Jedi Academy are located. Between the two continents lies a frozen sea whose ice can support even heavy vehicles. Scans indicate that below the thick layer of ice there lies a thriving ocean ecosystem. Certain explorers claimed to have glimpsed shadows the size of starships below the ice….
Location: Borderlands Region of the Inner Rim (strategically close to
The Vaathkree Trade Corridor)
Rotation and Orbital Periods: 26 hour days, 456 day long years
Population: 74 million, 60% human, 40% other. Locals are called
‘Obroans’
Economy: Data storage, luxury goods, tourism, hunting, some mining

The Continent of Rytai
Rytai predominantly features rolling plains of frozen tundra divided by arctic forests. Scattered settlements dot the landscape with many possessing vast greenhouses that produce most of the planet’s food supply. These towns grow in number and size as one approaches the planet’s capital city of Obroas.
Rytai places of interest:
Obroas
Nestled in the arms of a shallow valley to protect it from the fierce winter winds, Obroas is a city of some four million people. Most of the buildings are low but elegant constructions of grey stone that keeps in warmth and the city is quite organized, built around a series of concentric ring roads. Only within the final three rings do larger buildings rise, great skyscrapers of reinforced glass which house the few corporate and government offices of the world. The planet’s major start port is located eight miles out from the city center and while traffic is light by galactic standards it is a crucial lifeline for the planet as a whole.
Obroan Shield Generator
A massive and ancient edifice the size of a small hab block in times of war the Obroan Shield Generator covers the city and its outer suburbs under a pale blue shield. Protected at all times by the city’s council guard and only barely understood by the mechanics who service it, the generator is one of Obroas’ most important locations and the shield that has held back the Mandalorian invasion so far.
The Obroan Institute for Archaeology
The town of Istorija is dominated by the Oborian Institute for Archaeology (generally known as the Obroan Institute). Almost all of its 400,000 residents service the institute in some manner whether working in it directly, housing its visitors or providing services to the sprawling community of academics who pass through its doors.
The Hushed Forest
The largest single forest on the planet, the Hushed Forest is comprised of tens thousands of acres of near untouched wilderness in the heart of the continent. Its local name stems from the unnatural quiet that permeates the wood once someone ventures more than a hundred feet within its tightly packed gray trees. Apart from a few scattered logging and hunting camps the forest has been left to the planet’s creatures.
Kandra's Run
A small logging town of approximately 8,000, Kandra's Run backs onto the Hushed Forest. This tight-knit community has managed to avoid most of the current fighting taking place across the planet. It's people work hard and having a reputation for being slightly insular, but they take care of their own.
Every winter solstice the town holds the festival of Yolda where the townsfolk prepare food produced from the forest and then go house to house celebrating and eating until the dawn breaks, symbolizing the victory of light over darkness.
There is also a local legend of a Geist, a nigh invisible creature one can only spot by its outline. It's said to dwell in the forest and only occasionally ventures near people. It's blamed as the cause for most freezing or unusual winter related deaths, but there's no firm opinion on what it actually looks like.

The Continent of Vakarus
Vakarus possesses most of the planet’s mountain ranges which have traditionally kept it more isolated than its eastern neighbour. These sharp ridges can stretch for hundreds of miles and make travel difficult if one doesn’t have access to speeders which can operate at altitude in the intense cold. Settlements are few and far between, with most surrounding the continent’s great archives.
Vakarus places of interest:
The Celebratus Archive
One of the galaxy’s great wonders, the Celebratus Archives houses the accumulated knowledge of over 300,000 species and cultures. Founded in 16,782bby the isolated compound appears as six great metal lances sticking into the sky. The knowledgeable know they extend far deeper into the planet itself, a library nearly the size of a city. Maintaining the sheer quantity of knowledge within is a daunting task and several thousand archivists work around the clock ensuring the ancient texts and spluttering computers continue to serve. Visitors to the archive are charged according to their means and need, with some governments offering a royal ransom to access the secrets within.
The Jedi Academy
The next valley over from the Celebratus Archive houses a small Jedi Academy. Acting as a satellite school for Jedi initiates, it specializes in teaching data collection and analysis. A simple central domed structure is surrounded by a cluster of cabins, none exactly alike. At any one time 3-4 knights and around 10 padawans can be found in the academy as well as a small support staff. By ancient tradition the Jedi are allowed unrestricted access to the archive in return for a pledge to protect the knowledge from those who might misuse it.
Centithii Mining Consortium Site
Obroa-Skai possesses several small but valuable clusters of rare minerals such as vanadinite. While most of these ores are used in the planet’s small luxury goods industry, a few are profitable enough to be shipped off world. The Centithii Mining Consortium, a Cato Neimodian mining company, has secured the exclusive rights to Vanandinite mining on the western continent, under strict environmental restrictions. The mining site is primarily staffed by droids (given the cost of workers on such a harsh world) but progress has been slow as the Consortium seeks the best way to obey the letter and not the spirit of its contract.
Lodge Four
A remote but luxurious hunting lodge catering to trophy hunters, Lodge Four sits perched at the top of a particularly tall mountain on the continent’s northern extreme. From there the guests depart on specially guided tours to hunt the planet’s most dangerous game. While the odd rumour about some of the hunts has surfaced the remoteness of the lodge and the generous political contributions of its owners has prevented any real investigation.
