Republic Irregular Force 23 ‘The Hopers’

After the twin crushing defeats of Itamani III and Crucius the Republic survivors were rallied together by Acting General Gaen Novar, a Correlian colonel. Acting quickly he was able to salvage what he could from the shattered remnants and withdraw them in good order, linking up with locals of the Obroa-Skai defense force. Realizing that he possesses the only functioning Republic unit that can respond to the planet's invasion in time, General Novar has rallied his remnants for one last glorious effort.

The Hopers’ draw on the manpower and expertise of over a dozen units, but the most sizable are from the 640th Colony Garrison, the 277th Outer Rim Expeditionary Force, the 7th Temple Peacekeepers and the local forces of Obroa-Skai.

The 640th (Commanded by Alexander Borintus) were a simple garrison force in the ‘colony’ region of Republic space, charged with peacekeeping and responding to pirate threats. They were completely unprepared for total war with a force like the Mandalorians and suffered extensive casualties, but still provide most of the Republic naval elements present.

The 277th (Commanded by Gaen Novar) have traditionally been a force that supports Republic exploratory missions in the Outer Rim. While a smaller and more poorly equipped unit than most they make up for it with extensive experience and adaptability. They suffered the fewest casualties of any in the force.

The 7th Temple Peacekeepers (Commanded by Uffob Zubb) were a small Jedi force led by Master Aola Mobok, a Twi’lek Jedi with a knack for mediation. At the head of a small group of knights and padawan with Temple ranger support she was seeking to negotiate a prisoner transfer before being caught up in the battles.

The Obroas-Skai Militia (Loosely commanded by Nimi Roth) is a small volunteer force mobilized to aid the Republic and protect their planet from the oncoming Neo-Crusader invasion. This eclectic force has no standard operating doctrine other than a passionate defence of their home.
