D7 - Door Dash (All Player Event)

Post by GM Nicha » Wed Jan 11, 2023 12:12 am

Door Dash

The supply situation in Obroas City is growing dire as the relentless Neo-Crusader siege tightens its grip. Food, medicine and arms are desperately needed to allow its defenders to continue the fight. That’s where you come in.

In this event the players will collaborate to ensure the city is supplied with enough points in three categories: Food, Medicine and Arms. Success means the city will resist valiantly, failure will make some subsequent events more difficult as fewer Mandalorian forces are tied down.

This All Day Event is open to all players. Every player who participates must make 3 rolls total. These rolls can be in any category. Rolls generate the points of their category (food rolls generate food points) but they can be converted at a 2:1 rounding down ratio to other categories if you wish (example, you generate 3 food points. You can then convert that to 1 medicine or arms point).

Every successful roll will generate 1 point with every two additional successes granting an additional point. Advantage and Disadvantage are turned into boost and setback for that character’s next roll at a rate of 2 to 1. Triumphs add a point in whichever category you are rolling, despairs remove a point in that category.
Any player who succeeds on all 3 of their rolls using a different skill each time generates 1 additional point for use in any category.

Players are strongly encouraged to coordinate their point distribution!

The players must generate at least 20 Food points
To generate food points you may roll your choice of deception, skullduggery, vigilance or charm at average difficulty with one difficulty upgrade and one setback. ■ . These represent charming your way past Mandalorian patrols with disguised food goods.

The players must generate at least 15 medicine points
To generate medicine points you may roll your choice of medicine, education, piloting planetary or discipline at hard difficulty with one upgrade. medicines or flying them in low at night for a discreet dropoff.

The players must generate at least 10 arms points.
To generate arms points you may roll your choice of mechanics, computer, stealth, or perception at hard difficulty with one upgrade and a setback. ■ . These represent crafting the weapons, hacking into Mandalorian comms and then stealthily bringing the weapons in by hand.

It seems that the city has fallen on hard times and the Neo-Crusaders were attacking multiple fronts, which included potentially starving them out. While Vala didn't exactly like the solution, but desperate times call for desperate measures. She already frowned at the mayor for using known criminals to procure weapons, now it seemed like she had to stoop to the same levels. At least, she wasn't a criminal in some sector of the galaxy. Was that enough to keep her on moral high ground?

Vala moved quietly through the Neo-Crusader camp and was quick to pocket a few clips of ammunition and bits for modding, anything she could fit into her coat pockets. They weren't exactly much but each bit went a long way into thin their numbers later. Later, she made a sob story regarding needing to return back to town with some much-needed food for her uncle. This uncle just happened to be allergic to several things and didn't find agreement with the local fish. It seemed he could only sustain himself on army rations, the sort that was dry and lacking in flavour. It strange old lie but the story seemed to check out.

Later on, she might have gotten too ambitious for her own good and hopped on a speeder that was carrying some medicine. She might have pressed the wrong button or forgotten to check the security system. The alarm sounded once she pressed the ignition. So much for that joy ride back home she wanted. What was her need to find a new ride all of a sudden? She hastily jumped off the side and started to bolt back to camp on her two feet with the meagre goods she could procure.

Tomin benefited from local knowledge of a lot of edible things that didn't *look* edible. Frost pudding was a very nutritious slime mold, if you could find it. Looked like a bucket of frozen snot, but if you were cursed with eyes to see that, you just had to close them and it was fine.

Unfortunately, the pungency of of the spiny stinkfish (again, nutritious, and hardly smelled at all after an hour of boiling) had them discovered, confiscated, and destroyed under suspicion of being a biological weapon. While the actual weapons stash she dug from a forgotten Alpine stash was...well it had been 'forgotten' because everything was infested with steel termites...oops.

With the city under siege it fell to the Hopers to help support the population, and Othym wasn't going to shirk. That said, he must have missed the memo on exactly what the city needed, and in what quantities.
So when he arrived in the dead of night after sneaking through the mandelorian lines with a coat full of blasters and enough explosive to bring down to Rancor nest, the weapons were accepted with a smile, if an empty stomach.

Apollo was charming, as always. Even Mandalorians weren't immune to his wiles, and a few favors were exchanged for someone to look the other way.

Though he didn't know that calling their cooking pungent and eye-watering was an insult, and nearly lost everything with one remark. "It must be these pheromones messing with my senses... and they're not used to being around such tough guys as you, it's making me all confused!" Luckily, he was good at clearing up potentially deadly misunderstandings!

And without them knowing, some more of the food was stolen out. "Hee hee." Fast hands were useful for more than just pulling things out of his coat - they were also were good for hiding extra things in there, so people could ask if that was a ration-bar or if he was just very happy to see them.

There weren't all that many blindfolded Jedi going around...well three if anyone was counting. The point was that Zephrin had to be extra cautious and just couldn't find an opening that would get him any supplies.

Switching tactics he went into the medical supply business. The first load had to be ditched due to Mandalorian complications, however his final run of the day was successful. A Mando supply depot was going to to find its supply cut off as he escaped with all of their medicine. There was a dramatic chase scene but they were never going to catch up to his force speed!

Flora was well aware of the needs of the people. Not even a tried and true Mandalorian blockade could keep her budding passion from flowerig into a flolar assault of...deception.

she discreetly hid the components of the good stuff to be picked up for simple assembly by the members. Even she was circled by Mandalorian patrols, she did not waver.

For bonus points, she also left some food for the poor people.

Snowflake knew keeping people well was important - and while he wasn't particularly stealthy, or particularly smart, he knew how to keep focused to one thing and not let his attention drift from it.

That was helpful in keeping his eyes glued to those who were carrying shipments of meds inside, and also helped in keeping those responsible well-organised.

It wasn't much, but it should help some at least!

Zeline finished up tallying up the medical supplies, finding it much to her satisfaction. The best offering she had, of course, was the vaccination procured from earlier. "If anyone asks, it was me."

But what was definitely not her was that horrible batch that she first made. It frustrated her to the point of her throwing everything around at her workbench coupled with suitably dramatic yelling. Once she got a few drinks in her, however, she was able to focus up and pack up the last of the munitions that they needed.

"I could use a good burger," she said. "I don't suppose that one bar will let me back..."

Noticing that so far the Hopers hadn't secured sufficient foodstuffs, Sirina goes all in on a multi-tiered scheme to smuggle as much as possible past the patrols while fully confident that none of the Mandalorians would even begin to anticipate how bold of an effort she's making. Between disguising food as other supplies, using slight of hand to sneak tons of food onto her own person, and just making casual conversation as a distraction she figures she's bound to get away with something. It comes as a small surprise when, ultimately, her every effort manages to succeed and her entire smuggled stock makes it past the patrols undiscovered.

It was a monumental task to not only procure the necessary supplies, but then smuggle them through the Neo-Crusader lines.

But your herculean (if sometimes eclectic) efforts greatly hearten the defenders who have been fighting for months without at most intermittent contact with the wider planet. While many in the city will go hungry the significant quantities of medicine you brought in will save hundreds of lives. And the arms were desperately needed as the Obroans were fighting with what few military firearms the guard possessed and whatever the population could put together after the invasion.

For now Obroas City stands defiant as the Mandalorian bombardment and assaults continue. And you can all take some pride in that.

Partial Hoper success, the defenders are able to resist effectively, but cannot launch any counter attacks to draw off more Mandalorian forces. Conversely, the besiegers remain committed and will not be able to reinforce the final lieutenant battle.
