Last Stand

As you pass the Hunting Lodge a flustered looking servant hurries out through the deep snow to meet you.

"Yes, you're with the Republic are you? Please, we have an urgent favour to ask of you. Could you please step into the lodge?..She's growing irate."


((This scene will involve a little hunting and probably a short combat))

This looked like a job for... CAPTAIN APOLLO!

The Zeltron took a sip of whiskey from his flask before hiding it back into the many pockets of his trenchcoat. "An irate lady, eh? I'm sure with my charms, it will be no problem to scratch that... itch."

"Uhhh."The servant looks around to see if there was someone, anyone else...but there was just the trees and the snow. "Y-yes....right this way please sir."



He hurriedly leads you up the trail into the lodge proper, a sprawling set of wooden buildings atop a hill with panoramic views over the nearby wilderness. Although most of the customer base has fled the war there's still plenty of staff hurrying this way and that about their duties.

You're brought before a woman seated at a table on the edge of the observation deck. She's daintily drinking a cup of tea (with pinky finger suitably extended).

"This is the Lady Tensefor."

She looks Apollo up and down with a raise eyebrow.
"How do you do Mr....?"

"Apollo," the Zeltron smiled and bowed in a flamboyant fashion, "Captain Apollo, my lady. A pleasure to stand before such a rare beauty."

Oh, he recognised when someone had more delicate manners and sensibilities, and figured he could play accordingly. Be a bad boy, but a bad boy with charm and manners. So he held out his hand to greet her. "How may I be of service to you, Lady Tensefor?"

"Captain Apollo you say? My my, a man of rank." She takes his hand in a delicate but surprisingly forceful clasp before releasing him.

"I thank you for the compliment, although I find this planet's climate plays havoc with my features. But Captain."
She waves the servant away.
"I need your help. You see I'm terribly bored. I get away from the core for a few months to do some hunting and this dreadful war happens. None of the guides seem prepared to take me out into the field and so I have been simply wasting away here, wasting!"

She puts her cup down with a powerful 'tink' to emphasize the point.
"I'll simply have to mark the entire journey as a failure if I can't make at least the one hunt. They tell me you're with the Republic, is that correct?"

Apollo does make an attempt to kiss the back of her hand as he graciously accepts it. Like a proper gentleman, of course. A bad boy gentleman!

"If the planet plays havoc with your features, I imagine we would all be stunned if we were to see you in your favoured environments," he chuckles smoothly, and takes a moment to actually listen to her troubles.

Troubles he could understand, but he couldn't fathom why anyone would come to this planet of all places to ease their boredom!

"A hunt, hm? As it so happens, I have been taking frequent trips out in the wilderness here myself, fighting these Mandalorians that dare to threaten the good people and visitors like yourself. With a third one to do the heavy lifting for us, I can promise to keep you safe for an exciting adventure."

A large snow-covered face, probably not entirely unknown to the servant, comes closer as they see them while wandering around the forest, and looks at them with a curious face.

"She? Oh... you mean Ms van Carrnum? Did something happen?", the Gigoran asks, somewhat worried.

"Oh that does sound lovely, an adventure in your company, but where would we find a-...oh, but he's marvelous." Lady Tensefor has to lean back a little in her chair to look all the way up at Snowflake. "You must be a captain as well, I'm charmed to meet you truly. Now, as I was saying to your fellow here I need to go on a hunt or I will not know what to do with myself. And if all goes well I could make a very generous cash donation to the Republic efforts on this planet. How does that sound, hmmm?"

"A client?" Snowie's eyes widen - he's heard quite a few times that he shouldn't be talking to clients without express orders, but he doesn't quite have time to explain that...

Snowie acknowledges Apollo wth a friendly nod and greets the lady with a warm (and fittingly large) smile. He does seem confused by being called a captain, though.

"Captain? No, no!" After a while, he remembers something and almost seems to grow a bit more, the smile widening. "I've been called 'The Committee' by some, though!" A long blink, as if suddenly not sure what to say, then he goes on.

"The Committee is pleased to meet you too, my lady!", he says before it finally hits him that she mentioned a hunt and generous cash donations. Those words he'd learnt to pay attention to, growing up with the homeclan.

"A hunt, you say?" He looks towards the window, tries to remember what they could find this time of the year. "Ooooh hunting is fun! Have you been hunting before, my lady?"

Apollo saw credits-signs for a moment in his own eyes.

"Ah, Snowflake. My big fuzzy colleague. Quite the representation of the committee, I assure you," Apollo introduced the Gigoran with charm and flair trying to play along with the impressions that had been given. "Yes, now this is the kind of companion we should have along for a hunt to please my ladyship. I know you are quite the strong and capable outdoorsman."

The fact that Snowflake was aboard just made Apollo even happier. Hunt, adventure, some good times, and money!

"You're a Committee representative." Lady Tenesefor appears to simply accept that with the sort of detached politeness common of core aristocracy. "How wonderful. I'm glad you're joining us. I've been on a few hunts before I must say, Took down a sand best on Ryloth, battled swarms of myrnocks on Krethin Prime. I hope Obroa-Skai shall live up to its lofty competition."

She stands gracefully and adds. "Please hold for a moment gentlemen, I shall retrieve my weaponry. But then I must ask we depart soon. I positively crave the adventure that lies before us."

And with a polite nod she strides off into the lodge.

Sand best? Myrnocks? Snowflake's mouth was slightly agape - these sounded like really interesting creatures!

"The Committee will be ready when you are, Lady!"

He turns to Apollo while they wait. "Didn't know you were also homeclan-family, my good-scented friend!" He then shifts his (heavy) weight from one leg to the other, quite clearly excited. "This is bound to be fun!"

"Homeclan? Nah, not me," Apollo chuckles and waves it off. "Just glad we can team up for some good fun, my soft friend. I'm just here to make sure a visitor gets a good time visiting this planet, without getting interrupted by these bucket-heads called Mandalorians."

Then he grins. "And besides, money, Snowflake. Money!"

A few minutes later Lady Tensefor returns. There's a well worn and obviously expensive rapier and pistol at her hip and a rather shiny new hunting rifle slung over her back.

"Ah, and there we go. Now, I have a particular target in mind for this hunt. I'm told there's a beast around these parts known as "Young Karrar". Apparently it's of some renown. I think it would make a suitable opponent given we have it three to one, wouldn't you think?"

((Roll me average with a setback survival or lore to see if you've heard of this beast))

Apollo had no idea whatsoever and looked over to Snowflake... the hunter of the two of them, right?

The hunter, maybe. But more so due to spending a long time outside and running after things than actually understanding that much much about nature or which creatures were found where.

He looked over to Apollo, then to Lady Tensefor, the wide smile still on his lips.

When he noticed someone should probably say something, he went for 'encouraging'.

"Let's get that Young Karrar, then!"

... whatever that was.

How bad could it be? It was young!

The three of you set out into the forest and pretty soon you're following a game trail through the dense trees. Lady Tensefor doesn't seem overly intimidated by the unusual quiet and occasionally asks each of you a question about where you're from, what you're up to right now, how the war's going. It all sounds very cheerful.

She doesn't slow you much either so that within a few hours you're deep into the woods. It was at that point you'd hear a loud snapping of branches from up ahead, like something massive was moving through the trees...

'Snowflake' and 'stealthy' were two words that didn't quite go well together, as most in the clan certainly knew.

He at least kind of tried, this time. But it's hard not to see something that big.

Captain Apollo also stood out....in general, but particularly against the mostly white and grey backdrop of the forest.

"My! It is even more impressive than I was told!"
Lady Tensefor seems rather pleased despite its clearly hostile intent.
