The armored car is old school, with wheels instead of repulsors, and that provides just enough clearance for Rece to slide himself underneath it and latch on to the undercarriage. If there's one thing Rece knows as well as shooting, it's taking things apart, and with the careful application of a hydrospanner and some foamcast, he soon has the axles sticking and stuttering.

And the hapless Edward Leene now has snow all down his shirt.

Even with Snowflake using the door ripped out from the car as an additional shield, the turret's fire bites much deeper into the Gigoran's pelt than the previous shots had. Howling half in pain, half to call Ja'cque's attention, he tries his best to move quickly, dropping the door to take a stim from his belt pouch and jab it into his arm, then darting to one side, coordinating with Ja'cque, trying to lure the vehicle into an area where the Wookie had set up a wire connected to a huge log, which they hoped would fall on the vehicle from a nearby tree.

Unfortunately, their actions end up tipping off the driver that something was off. It took some risky manoeuvres to avoid running over the wire, but avoid it they did...

The badly damaged car swerves to avoid the log which deflects off its side. The turret gunner opens up on Ja'cque and Snowflake in response, heavy firing blasting apart smaller trees!

"This is taking too long, and Snowflake can't hold out forever!" Rece unclips his mercenary baggage and dumps him unceremoniously in the snow, then turns to Ja'cque. "You're going to have to toss me."

Moments later, an armored ball of fur crashes through the car's windshield. Rece uncurls himself in the passenger seat, leveling his blaster at the crew. "Shotgun."

Well, he was the first to call shotgun. The ram slows and then stops, its engine spluttering but alive as you are able to take it out! With Edward's last card played (and the concussion he is probably sporting) there are no more mercenaries coming at you. It looks like for now at least, the day is saved.

Ja'cque for his part, seems quietly impressed. "Nice work on that car, figured that might have caused a little."

He looks over at Snowflake and then back at Rece in the driver's seat. "So, what's the plan now? You two trust your commanders enough to explain this all to them?"
And then he glances at the destroyed sawmill.
"I travel pretty light, so I can keep moving."

The GIgoran's pelt is pretty worn and battered, and he's now clearly bleeding from a few places, but he still smiles in relief when the armoured car stops.

"That was an insistent one. Nice work, mister Charak, mister Ja'cques!",

Ok, the smile was probably due to how that had been achieved.

After a quick pause to use another stim and place some more on his belt, he makes his way towards the car, limping a little in the first few steps.

"Um. I need to tell mister Dubick what happened. I think the homeclan won't be happy to know this New Age clan-thing was pulling our leg on our clanslands...."

He turns to face Ja'cque, nodded encouragingly - although there seemed to be some uncertainty underneath. "And mister Ja'cque did nothing wrong, really. So it should be all good? Mister Borintus should probably understand..." Turning to Rece as if seeking some confirmation. "...Right?"

[Rece Charak]

Rece nods. "Captain Borintus seems like decent folk. Just in over his head. Once we explain that the person pushing the case against you with no evidence just committed, uh..." He starts to count on his fingers. "Three counts of attempted murder, 11 counts of felony murder, espionage, wire fraud, conspiracy to defraud the Republic, misuse of official communications, destruction of property... I think he'll come around."

He tosses Ja'cque his binders. "So throw that sucker in the trunk and let's get you back on the job, Agent!"

He turns to Snowflake. "You know, my friends just call me Rece. And you just took several dozen blaster bolts and a car rescuing a CID agent, so..." He offers Snowflake a scrap metal deputy badge. "They keep telling me these have no legal weight, but you should have one anyway."

The wookie and the Chadra-Fan can see repeated frowns in Snowflake's brow as Rece recites Leene's charges. He wasn't very good with words, but he understood most of those - and they certainly didn't bode well for the man. But he was convinced Rece was right - Captain Borintus would most likely come around with all of that on the man.

And seeing Ja'cque's name cleared was definitely a good feeling.

Rece's words and his offering a deputy badge, however, came a surprise. But one received with a broad smile. "Oh! I - we - just did was seemed right, mister Char... erm, Rece". It was clear the Committee wasn't very used to using first names, especially with people who seemed important.

He took the badge on his paws, looked at it first curiously, then proudly. Tried to place it on his armour - it got tangled on patches of fur that somehow still sticked out even with the heavy armour, but he managed to disentangle it. He looks down at it, smiles again. "I'm not sure the clansfolk will be happy with that.... I may not always be able wear it so proudly", he said pensively. "But I am happy! Thanks, Mr Rece! This means a lot"

The first name thing worked, apparently. Dropping the "mister", not so much.

He then moved to get into the car again. "Back to the meeting point, then? Or... maybe mister Ja'cque would like to say some goodbyes? Or we could get another burger at Brook&Burgers before we leave!"

[Rece Charak]

"Yeah, a burger sounds pretty..." Rece snaps his fingers. "I almost forgot! Evidence! Give me a hand, will you?" He hops out of the car, runs over to the collapsed sawmill, and begins digging through the rubble for any trace of Ja'cque security footage.

The Gigoran takes a while to fully realise what Rece had in mind, but when he does - with Rece already burying through the rubble - he mutters something like "Ah, of course!" and sets off to help find any sign of the surveillance equipment.

Ja'cque seems to possess a photographic memory as he can lead you guys to where his surveillance system storage and backup storage are located. Both are in rough shape, but the footage should be usable. After a couple hours working the wookie also presses a couple small pile of credits into each of your hands.

"I travel light, so you'd be doing me a favour by taking this off my hands. Just got a Western Galactic Banking Guild account I draw from, no need to keep much cash on me."
