The overtaxed engine of your landspeeder protests as you fly after Lady Tensefor. The trees of the Hushed Forest are coming up alarmingly quickly ahead of you. But she shows no signs of slowing down as her own craft rockets towards cover!
The Chase is on.
Chase Rules
Section 1: Pedal to the metal
Tensefor's speeder kicks up arcs of snow ahead of you as it flies over the frigid land beneath. The engine in that thing clearly has some serious kick! The PCs may choose either a piloting ground, a mechanics or a survival check (representing superior piloting, on the fly engine repairs or charting a superior course) at average with two setback to make up the lost ground. ◆◆ ■ ■ .
If either or both of you succeed add two boost dice to your rolls in section 2. Advantage and Disadvantage are turned into boost and setback for that character’s next roll at a rate of 2 to 1. A triumph upgrades the player's next roll, a despair upgrades the difficulty of the player's next roll.
Section 2: Getting into position
Abruptly the terrain around you changes to scrub and then trees. You're heading into the Hushed Forest...that will make driving interesting. Tensefor is trying to shake you, making tight turns left and right. She would only need a couple moments to get away.
The PCs may roll their choice of perception, vigilance or computers at average difficulty with one upgrade ⬟ ◆ (representing keeping an eye on her or using your scanners) to stay on her tail! For each success and then every two subsequent successes upgrade your dice pool for step 3. Advantage and Disadvantage are turned into boost and setback for that character’s next roll at a rate of 2 to 1. A triumph will broaden the available skills for section 2, a despair will reduce them.
Section 3: The Jump
There's a shriek of tortured metal as Tensefor's speeder slams into your vehicle! She's given up trying to lose you and is now simply trying to end you. Worse, your vehicles are approaching a deep ravine as the forest floor begins to drop rapidly away. Either you're going into the ravine, or she is!
If a despair was rolled in section 2 the PCs must roll discipline to hold their nerve and stay locked, vehicle to vehicle! If no despair was rolled the PCs may choose to roll discipline or piloting ground, if a triumph was rolled the PCs may choose to roll mechanics or perception in addition to their other options. All of these rolls are at average with two difficulty upgrades. ⬟⬟.
