Just your average hometown blind sniper gal (Tomin Q&A)

Post by Tomin » Tue Mar 21, 2023 3:56 am

These feel a bit less necessary with all the character creation chatter on Discord. But if there's any questions, fire away!

This was not my best game for getting in solid rp, but the fights and events allowed 'some' interactions at least. Really enjoyed seeing all the other characters at work.

It was a pleasure to see Tomin in action. I really enjoyed the character, one of the very few Jedi I've opt for a weapon other than a lightsaber (although by the end, she was pretty good with one!). Loved her vibe, would trust the blind sniper to take the shot everytime.

Did she end up more or less as expected? Or did Tomin evolve a bit in the telling?

How did you feel about her in all the combats? Hope they were fun as sniper-Jedi.

Where to for Tomin next? Does she stay in the war and side with the Revanites? Return to the temple? Or forge her own path?

Blind Jedi sniper doesn't sound like it should work but you knocked it out of the park! I really enjoyed our scenes together and thought we made a good Jedi team. The build seemed to come together nicely and only having Soak 3 didn't seem to cause any headaches in the fights.

What did you like most about playing Tomin? Any surprises? Would she return for more in the future?

I don't think I have any questions the others haven't asked, but I really appreciated how much you/Tomin did to add to the world and the game. Those little bits of world building always make everything feel a bit more real, and you/Tomin did an excellent job at that.

Thank you for playing!

I appreciated the scenes with Uffob and Master Saubet to ground her a bit more in her Jedi-ness, which I hadn't gotten a strong grasp on going in. Zephrin provided a great running example as well. So I did slowly feel like she was finding a bit more Jedi in the hometown sniper gal vibe.

I hadn't initially planned on any focus on the lightsaber, but that fight with Haneul gave her a taste of how limited her gun focus could be, which was dangerous when people needed protecting. Which sent me looking a bit at Seeker specs and realizing I could bump her ability there with a bit of Ataru.
How did you feel about her in all the combats? Hope they were fun as sniper-Jedi.
They were all very different and fun. Still learning the system and, as you noted, you can do a fair bit with the power of gun. The limitations there were helpful while learning, in that I couldn't bog myself down with too many decision possibilities, while the fights allowed for plenty of shooting.

I think she'd want to make sure the Temple existed again before heading off, unless there's some sign that the Force has other ideas. As a Seeker, I've always assumed she'd head out for other adventures at some point...Maybe with the Revanites if the Jedi council actively forbids involvement in pushing the Mandalorians back. She's seen the damage they can do. That said, I'm not super knowledgeable of the lore there to say if Revan has a philosophy she'd ultimately want to stick with.

Soak 3 works great when Zephrin is in there tanking to effectively give her Soak:whatever's left after they hit Zephrin. XD

I was pleased with the build overall. I think a game that she reprised in would see me putting some XP into more Reflect/Parry and equipment to help when there's not a tank in the way. Which is to say, that I do think I'd have her return, depending on the game premise.

I'm glad the oddball concept worked as well as it did, and other folks seemed to enjoy it a bit as well. I enjoyed considering how she'd perceive things, given the lack of strong fluff on that score, and balancing the Executioner's pragmatism against general Jedi mysticism. She's my first Jedi character and first combat character for this system, so it was a lot of fun working my way through both of those things a bit.

I'm always appreciative how much free reign GMs give me to do the local worldbuilding. ^^ Thanks for the chance to run around doing a bit more of it.

Definitely! Adjusting the wording a bit or adding some quotemarks to all those perception-with-eyeballs verbs. It was interesting, and since the canon is kind of fuzzy on what, exactly, they're perceiving, I could kind of fiddle with it.

We've never gotten to interact in a one-on-one scene, even though I've noticed you've replied to a few of my event posts! This is a missed opportunity on my part!
