Snow Way to Welcome Someone - Early Afternoon

There is simply no way the Neo-Crusaders didn’t spot the Concord Dawn hurtling through the sky. But just because they know where and when the ship came down doesn’t mean they know you survived, or what state The Hopers are in. They are definitely going to send scouts to find out though.

A brave team is needed to intercept and take out these probing forces before they can report back to Crusader command!

This combat is open to 4 players.
Snow Way to Welcome Someone.jpg
Snow Way to Welcome Someone.jpg (57.54 KiB) Viewed 3133 times
Location: The combat takes place in the depths of the Hushed Forest, an uncannily quiet but densely packed spread of twisted grey trees. The snow crunches softly underfoot and even the most veteran woodcutters feel a little uneasy under its boughs. All ranged attacks in the forest suffer one setback due to the heavy cover available .

Premise: Incapacitate the Mandalorian scouts. Every player should roll vigilance for initiative.

Opposition: Two groups of 4 Mandalorian Crusader Scouts start at medium range to the party, the scouts have defense 1. A Crusader Lieutenant commands the squads, he also starts at medium range and is adversary 1, defense 1.

A hulking woolly silhouette moves through the forest, trying to find signs of anything that might be amiss. An obviously conspicuous individual wouldn't be most people's first choice for a scout in most occasions, of course. But he did know the area, and with how conspicuous their glorious entrance had been to begin with, keeping unseen might not be as important as figuring out whether (or when) someone else had joined the fiery festivities.

And if there were other celebrants, as he'd heard a few times while travelling with the clan, 'it was always good to have someone to aim the fireworks at'.

He never quite got why some clansfolk laughed when they said that. He liked fireworks! But usually the ones that got aimed at him weren't pretty...

Stuck with the choice of doing menial labour at the crashed ship or brave thrilling dangers, Apollo of course chose the most exciting option!

He stayed close to the Gigoran... but was mostly distracted by have large and fluffy Snowflake was. "I must ask, what conditioner do you use to keep your fur so smooth?"

Someone would come looking for them, it was only natural. With the Force guiding him Zephrin moved through the silence. There was the Captain, his scent was unmistakable, and dwarfed by a giant presence that was reassuringly on the side of the Hopers...

A small smile met the Captain's quip, but he chose to refrain from joining in. His lightsaber was in hand but not yet activated. The enemy were close.

Being something of a scout himself, it made sense that Terreck was along for this patrol, and while he wasn't at 100% he was certainly close enough for the business at hand. At least according to him.

Trudging through the forest he kept a close eye on what was happening, best to be prepared after all.

It seemed that the Force was strong this day. The Mandalorians seemed especially on edge, perhaps sensing that fate was not on their side.

Still, they were alert and trained, spotting the Hopers at about the same time they were spotted. "Looks like real soldiers. Blast 'em!" One of them called, pointing at the Hopers. One of the groups already was bringing their carbines to bear...

The fight was on.

Apollo was in fact not only a captain because he owned a ship and had given himself that title, but also because he was pretty good at directing people when danger reared its head!

"Bucketheads straight ahead, guys! Hit that bulls-eye and the dominos will start collapsing like a house of cards!" He said in his most enthusiastic voice as he pulled out a blaster and ducked behind a tree.

NPC Slot- Crusader Scout Squad 1. Manoeuvre to take cover (Scout Squad 1 now has 2 ranged defence in addition to the extra setback for the deep forest)

Fire at Apollo, hit for 9 damage, no pierce

https://sakkaku.org/ffg-sw-rolls/8803

1 setback as player's choice, will use it to inflict one strain/wound if no other preferences
((Forgive me for no BB text, there is some deranged phone posting going on here))

-----------------

"Target the scarlet one, he's obviously their commander!"
The first scout squad dives into cover a half second before the shooting starts, turning their carbines on the Zeltron! Sheer weight of fire allows them to land a glancing blow.
-----

NPC Slot - Crusader Scout Squad 2. Manoeuvre to take cover (Scout squad 2 now has 2 ranged defence in addition to the extra setback for the deep forest)

Fire at Snowflake, Hit for 9 damage, no pierce use advantage to pass boost to their lieutenant

https://sakkaku.org/ffg-sw-rolls/8804

"Haneul was right, there were survivors. Oh kriff, look at the size of it. Concentrate fire on the big one!" The well trained Mandalorians mimic the other squad, holing up in cover under some gnarled tree roots and lighting Snowflake up. Even with his shield the Committee was a big enough target to hit!

Snowflake was about to answer Apollo about his combing(?) routine when the shouting and shooting started - and a bullet soon hit the Zeltron's stomach.

"UGH! Feck! Friend! You alright??"

Finding the source of the blaster drizzle wasn't hard, considering. Some of it even reached his own pelt.

Seeing the Mira-look'em Jedi rush towards the one who had given orders, he starts running to reach the squad that had shot the Zeltron

Previous slots - Crusader squad 1 has lost 2 of its 4 members.

NPC Slot - Crusader Lieutenant manoeuvres to get to short range with Zephrin, attacks Zephrin hitting for 12 damage, no pierce.

https://sakkaku.org/ffg-sw-rolls/8820

((Using advantage to pass two boost to the next NPC to go next turn))

"And here it is." The lieutenant nimbly rolls back through the snow, ducking the lightsaber swing before firing a quick burst at the knight.
"Haneul has trained us well, your Jedi tricks won't work on the Coreward Path. Crusaders, Take them down!"

The other Mandalorians roar in agreement as the battle is fully joined!

NPC slots

Crusader Squad 1 manoeuvres to short range from Snowflake and fires at him, but they miss.

https://sakkaku.org/ffg-sw-rolls/8824
https://sakkaku.org/ffg-sw-rolls/8825

((They use the three advantage to double boost the next squad to go))

"Oh my stars, Carlo, aaaaargh!"
Mandalorians go flying as Snowflake sets to work, although the sound is unnaturally muffled in the Hushed Forest, from a distance the whole thing looks like a rather macabre mime display.
The last survivor of the squad scuttles backwards firing wildly, but only connects with the Gigoran's shield. The wild bolts do come dangerously close to Terreck though!

Crusader squad 2 uses a manoeuvre to aim and fire at Terreck, hitting him for 9 damage no pierce.

https://sakkaku.org/ffg-sw-rolls/8826

Spending 3 advantage for them to disturb a sizable shower of snow from the overhanging trees, then they'll pass a boost on to the lieutenant.

(( Every PC at the start of your next turn, please make your choice of an average coordination or athletics with two setback ■ ■ to dodge the deluge of snow! On a failure suffer 3 strain with no soak allowed))

"Die damn you! Die!" The two survivors of the other squad open up on Terreck. But even with the blistering close range they're only able to score a few glancing hits. But the thunder of fire strikes the canopy above and there's a massive downpour of snow!

Someone shot him! The gall! The nerve! "It's pink, not scarlet!" he yelled back at the bucketheads, ducking away from a few bolts.

The Gigoran's concern was touching though, and he'd have to remember to give all these folks a drink afterwards. "I'm alright my furry frie---ACK!" Apollo was cut off as some snow pushed him along and away from the tree he had been hiding behind. Somewhat clumsily he rolled on the ground and staggered to his feet next to Terreck. Suddenly a grenade was pulled from one of the concealed pockets on his trenchcoat and he lobbed it hurriedly at the offending Mandalorians as he threw himself behind a snowbank to avoid getting shot some more.

OoT Incidental: Reflect 3 damage. Takes 4.

Much of the volley was batted away, although it was close enough to hurt. He nodded at the Lieutenant. "Good to know, thank you."

As the massive accumulation of snow fell all around them Zeph dodged it effortlessly, using the momentum to strike out at his opponent. This time he did not miss.

The blade went high, then low, and he added a solid kick to the chest for good measure. "Can I interest you in surrendering?"

It was a subtle shift of the body from Fec that allowed him to dodge the majority of the snow, the rest sliding harmlessly off his body as he continued to fire at the group of Mandolorians that he had previously engaged. The Gigorian and the Jedi seemed to have their own opponents under control after all.

Round 3

Crusader Squad 1 has 1/4 remaining
Crusader Squad 2 is wiped out
The Crusader Lieutenant is badly wounded.

Terreck's natural affinity with the outdoors pays off as he's able to continue maneuvering more surefootedly than the mandalorians. His final salvo punches his last two targets off their feet and they go sprawling into a snow drift.
